Get to know Tris
Hi I'm Tristen, the lead photographer and head of the Milk & Honey team!
I've been taking photos for as long as I can remember. Both my Mom and Granpa were into nature photography when I was growing up and would often let me use their cameras for yearbook class or just for having fun with around the house! It was never more than a hobby for them, but in 2016 I realized it was my calling.
I started out as many other young photographers did by trying to break into travel photography with the rise in adventure photographers and Instagram. But I quickly realized I didn't enjoy trying to mix my hobby of hiking and what I was studying at art school. So I tried my hand at portrait and fashion photography!
I worked as a fashion and beauty photographer (and still do!) for about a year or so before it brought me into working with couples and eventually into weddings. The first ever wedding-type shoot I did was a branding photo shoot for the Modern Wedding Show in Victoria, BC. They wanted something more editorial for that year's show and decided to find a fashion photographer for the job. Which just happened to be me!

Bridal fashion and gowns have always been of interest to me, so the shoot opened my eyes to what I could do with actual couples at real weddings. I started organizing styled shoots with models and real couples to get a feel for working in the industry before diving headfirst into weddings. In 2018 I had my first real wedding season in Victoria, and with the help of my second Stephanie, it was a huge success!
Since then I have documented over 100 couples say "I do" all over BC and as far as Penang, Malaysia! I am so in love with my job. It really isn't work to me at all it is fun and exhilarating.

My husband Kyle and I got married in Vancouver in September 2023 after 6 fun years of being together. Every day since has been even better than the last.
I'm a traveler!

I LOVE traveling and exploring new places both near and far. So far I've had the pleasure of visiting 13 different countries, but I plan to keep adding to that and expanding my passport.
I'm a big sister!

I have two siblings, both younger than me by 5 and 10 years! We grew up in Texas and Washington state together before I moved up to Canada and decided this is where I wanted to stay.
I love my brother and sister so much and I try to spend time with them as much as I possibly can. We are a bit of a rowdy group, and I wouldn't want it any other way!
I'm an artist!

Art has always been a huge part of my life and something I enjoy in my downtime. I've always loved drawing fantasy characters and monsters. When I was younger I wanted to design video game characters, but I like keeping this form of art as my hobby instead of my career! When I'm not traveling, working weddings, or reading I'll be painting abstract art or drawing scenes from one of the Dungeons and Dragons campaigns I'm involved in (yes I play D&D and I love nerding out about it!)
